Here are some suggestions for keeping you safe when buying and selling:

1.    Use a credit card or secure electronic payment service for all transactions. HayNet® does not incorporate any built-in payment system, so you have to arrange payments directly with the other party in a transaction. You may have to pay PayPal charges as a seller, but take that into account with your pricing.

2.    Avoid buying without viewing, whilst this may not always be possible you will have to accept there will be a risk. There is an increasing trend to buy horses without viewing. Make sure you can trace the reputation of the dealer and be aware of the risks. 3.    When buying anything from horses to horseboxes try to take someone knowledgeable with you. If not possible at least have a friend with you who can keep your feet on the ground. It is so easy to get “caught up in the moment” and let your heart rule your head. Ask as many questions as you can and make a list before you leave to view.

4.  Lastly if something seems too good to be true, then it probably isn’t!
